My Muse

you are poetry material.

how am i the poet,

but you are so effortlessly poetic?

in a way you’re a painting

that i want to run my fingers over,

and discover the meaning behind its clouds,

lilies and pastures.

and with the oil-based clouds,

lie metaphors upon similes.

your smile as my sky,

your thighs as my wine.

you are poetry.

and i, the poet,

would only be ever so lucky to find

peace in your language, love in your

soliloquies, and even promise in your paints.

i would spend a lifetime trying to figure out your meanings, but above all,

i hope that my words capture you,

in your entirety.
