B

B buzzes around

bringing brothers and best friends

It’s like the moment my breath is taken

because of a boy.

what a stupid reason.

It’s sound is brief on the tongue

like the time it took to have breakfast,

A patch of buttercup flowers blooms

B owns birthday bashes and big blue butterflies

There goes B again.

bringing babies and bassinets.

B’s beauty blows up, bang!

Suddenly,

Life boils down to bad breakups

and breakdowns

B leaves bruises

and blood on the bedroom floor.

B: two gravestones beside one another

One grave is filled,

a bassinet is barren.

so is the woman’s womb.

Beautiful and bitter

Bright and backhanded

Blissful and brutal,

B is a broken heart

when a baby

is buried
