Have We Not Yet Failed?

Artist’s Statement

The pieces in this series were created in my Typography 3 class to support a fictional magazine I created called Junction. Junction explores the cross between literature and art. In this particular issue, the design was centered around Gwen E. Kirby's short story "Shit Cassandra Saw That She Didn't Tell the Trojans Because at That Point Fuck Them Anyway." One illustration, "Cassandra," depicts Cassandra in Greek Mythology, as presented in Kirby's story. "Tap Tap" was an additional visual element I created to aid the story.

About the Artist

Marisa Thoman is a third year Graphic Design major and English minor at the University of Cincinnati. She will be graduating in 2023. Her background is in fine arts, but she decided to pursue Graphic Design in college. Since then, she’s taken every opportunity she can to combine the two. Thus, she’s taken up illustration in her free time. When she’s not creating art, you can find her curled up somewhere with a good book.
