Artist Bio

Athena Sumner is a student at the University of the Incarnate Word and will graduate in May 2024 with a Bachelor's in Art. Her main medium is digital art, but sometimes, when she doesn’t have the motivation or patience, she’ll switch over to photography to capture daily life.

Interview with the Artist

1. What was your inspiration for this piece?

Not much inspiration per se, the theme I was going for was perspective and I thought a hallway was a good example of that because of how all the lines are straight and implicitly meet at a vanishing point in the middle of the picture.

2. What is your creative process? (How do you go about creating?)

I like documentorial photographs so I just took the photo immediately when I thought about my theme and how perfect the hall would work with it

3. What are some influences on your artistic process?

No influences, just me and my spontaneity.

4. Is there anything more you’d like our readers/viewers to know about you or your work?

Photography is a new one for me, so for my first published piece to be a photograph seems strange, but I believe I've found a new medium I enjoy practicing.
