Blueprint of Dreams
by Angelica Cayobit
Louis D. Brandeis High School
A 10th-grade student currently attending Louis D. Brandeis High School, Angelica Cayobit is a writer focused on the internal fire that spurs growth and the silent gratitude that anchors it. Her writing travels through the “unmarked paths” of life, endeavoring to turn inherited hope into action. The piece included in this year’s issue is more concerned with the continuation of belief than with definitive conclusions.
In a world that spins with endless choice,
I stand, whisper, longing for a voice.
With paths unmarked, my heart’s a map,
Yet all I carry is this heavy pack.
A mother’s toil, the nights she spent,
Her dreams wrapped tight in the love she lent.
I feel her strength in every beat,
A rhythm of hope, my guiding heat.
I want to soar, to rise, to claim
A spark within, a fierce flame.
To show my grandparents a heart that’s true,
With every step, I’ll honor you.
Though doubts may dance like shadows long,
I’ll write my story, I’ll sing my song.
For every stumble, a lesson learned,
A flame ignites where bridges burned.
Nothing can dim this fire inside,
A teenage dreamer, with arms open wide.
I’ll build a life from love and grace,
With every challenge, I’ll find my place.
So here I stand, on the edge of the night,
With stars above, I’ll chase the light.
I don’t need answers, just faith to start,
For I am amazing, and this is my heart.
