Magic In the River’s Valley

South, where the border is set,

Lies a town, forgotten to the rest of you.

This is where my eyes first created memories.

Where they saw the sun drowning the city,

It’s endless ocean of light drying the lives of people.

Where the animals have screamed with their noises,

Howling through the night, weeping with lost voices.

Where the vegetation has wished for me in whispers,

Longing me to whirl with them in the River’s wind.

Where tufts of clouds have swallowed our stars,

Whose lives below dissolve in their yearning.

It is here nature comes to mold them,

It is where time stops to find them.

I saw the magic that slept here,

And obscure it still lies there.

Deep in the lower valley,

It finds a home in the Rio Grande

Lost Underneath the Sea
Sometimes babies live long enough,

To take in the sunset over the Ocean.

Other times, the Ocean will see their beauty,

And will decide to keep it for herself.

Embracing their bodies with the suffocating tide,

Below the waves of light at the Sun’s rise.

The Stars will witness as the babies become lost,

Scattered underneath the ocean of time.

Someday –

Seafoam will settle into the streets of covered Earth,

Retreating only when the Sun has called her back.

Then, our children will finally be lost.

Until Time has returned for them,

Exposing their breathing hearts to Heaven above.
