Editors’ Note

Dear Reader,

We’d like to express our sincere appreciation for including Quirk in your reading life. Every year we search for the work of writers who introduce us to unique perspectives and new experiences. And every year, we discover sharp, witty, insightful, emerging writers in poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. It is our mission to champion such voices.

For this year’s issue, we selected works that invoked feelings of connection, pieces that captured life events we all might have experienced, now considered from new angles. We’d like to express our gratitude to the undergraduate contributors, hailing from all over the country, who sent us these pieces.

We’ve also included a selection of high school writers, who demonstrated an incredible capacity for creating work relevant to the issues and challenges facing our generation.

We wish each contributor the best in their individual, artistic journey. It is our greatest honor as an editorial team to share with you their collective efforts. May you enjoy and truly connect with these stories.
